Symposium Overview
Building on the SSHRC Project Carceral Intersections of Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation, and Trans Experience in Confronting Anti-Black Racism and Structural Violence in the Prisoner Re-Entry Industrial Complex (2022–2027), this one-day knowledge mobilization symposium brings together Black LGBTQ+ community members, sex workers, researchers, advocates, educators, policymakers, service providers, and students to examine the intersections of labour, policy, digital survival, and collective care. Grounded in Black feminist, queer, anti-racist, and anti-carceral frameworks, the symposium centres Black LGBTQ+ sex workers as knowledge holders, leaders, researchers, and policy experts.
