Criminal Justice, Immigration and Refugee,
and Human Rights Support

Black LGBTQ Justice Canada operates its own in-house legal clinic tailored to the Beneficiaries1 and provides access to lawyers and professionals who have received Certified Black LGBTQ Justice Affirming Assessment (BLGBTQJAA) training on how best to serve Beneficiaries. Beneficiaries in need of legal support will only be referred to those lawyers who have received certification from Black LGBTQ Justice Canada. Our in-house professionally trained experts are here to help. They can assist with written reports and/or oral testimony to support justice-impacted Black LGBTQ individuals with the following processes:

  • Criminal Justice: Support at all stages of the legal process, including arrest, bail hearings, Crown disclosure, pre-trial meetings, trial, sentencing, and re-entry.
  • Immigration and Refugee Claims: Assistance with applications, hearings, and appeals to ensure fair representation.
  • Human Rights: Support for individuals facing discrimination or rights violations, including filing complaints and pursuing remedies through human rights tribunals.

This tailored and integrated approach ensures that Black LGBTQ and gender-expansive individuals receive substantive, informed, and equitable support across institutions.
